Kathmandu to be transformed into ‘smart city’

Kathmandu to be transformed into ‘smart city’. The Spokesperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan city, Gyanendra Karki told to the Himalayan times that KMC is planning to build well maintained, well-managed smart Sajha petrol pumps where cards which is simlar to ATM cards will be accepted. In side of petrol Pump there will be well managed toilets, and a small tea shop. In attached with petrol pump there will be waiting lounge, ATM booth, and a phone booth.

KMC has also planned to build three multi-storey parking building in three main places of Kathmandu, Newroad, Khulla Manch, lainchaur to reduce the current problem of unmanaged parking system. KMC has estimate the budget of 550 million for this project.

Construction of Kathmandu View Tower, which was started a few months ago in Old Bus Park, is also a plan of KMC

KMC has send its project to minister for its approval so that the construction work will start as soon as possible.

The Dharahara which was destroyed in 2072 earthquake, will be rebuilt with different construction mterials but design of Dharahara will be as same to old design. Within the ‘smart city’ plan, Rani Pokhari will be transformed into a ‘musical water fountain’  which will be a tourist area a two-km heritage path will be constructed from Kalmochan Ghat to Teku Dovan on the banks of the Bagmati River and the 27 km Ring Road will be widened within the next 10 years.

And various roads of the Kathmandu valley will be widened.
