Modern School, Bhaktapur has been feted with the title of Surshala Idol Junior

Kathmandu, March 19, 2017: Aayush KC, a student of Modern School, Bhaktapur has been feted with the title of Surshala Idol Junior, the first national level child competition organized by Surshala Foundation and Music Academy. KC was awarded amidst a ceremony organized at the Russian Culture Centre, Kathmandu to celebrate the grand finale of the competition. With this win, he has cash bagged a prize worth Rs. 350,000 (cash prize of Rs. 101,000, music album, music video, and Surshala scholarship).

Similarly, Pritam Acharya from Sunsari has secured the second position in the competition, and has received the prize worth 250,000 (Rs. 71,000 cash prize, music recording, music video, and Surshala Scholarship).

Meanwhile, Srajal Maharjan, currently the student of Gyan Niketan has won the ‘Public Choice Award’ gaining maximum views on YouTube, and the third position among the top 5 contestants. With this, Maharjan has been awarded a prize worth Rs. 150,000 (including 66,000 cash, music recording, music video, and Surshala scholarship).

Similarly, Aaditya Raj Dhakal from Chitwan and Mamata Gurung of Pokhara have respectively secured the fourth and fifth position in the competition, and have each won cash prize of 10,000 rupees, music recording, music video and Surshala Scholarships.

Along with this, each of the top 10 contestants will get the facility of recording music albums from Rebel Creations, and the top 5 will get the opportunity of having music videos recorded. Similarly, the top 7 contestants will get the chance of recording music albums from the popular musician Alok Shree.

More than 1500 talented child contestants from various regions of Nepal had auditioned for the competition, and a three-member jury panel comprising of Hemanta Sharma, Raj Sigdel, and Juna Prasai had selected the top talents from the pool.

The top 5 contestants had performed on the occasion of the Grand Finale organized in the Chief Guest-ship of Singer Prem Dhoj Pradhan. The event also had the presence of various gigantic personalities from music industry of Nepal, including senior lyricist Ratna Shamsher Thapa, lyricist and film producer Yadav Kharel, lyricist Rajendra Thapa, senior musicians Deepak Jangam, Raju Singh, Mahesh Khadka, singers Ram Krishna Dhakal, Pramod Dhakal, and Narahari Premi among others.

Amrit Chhetri, director of the programme, and singer, congratulated all the winners of the competition, and shared that Surshala Foundation will always be in search of talents in children, and provide them with practical education of music, and opportunities in the sector. He also mentioned that they will be coming up with the second edition of the competition soon.

The competition had been broadcasting in Kantipur Television since the last 7 months.
