Royal Enfield | Reasons Not To Buy Royal Enfield Bikes

Royal Enfield is one of the oldest motorcycle makers in the series production and there is a lot of demand in the nepali market, thanks to the Bullet series which comprises of the Electra and the Classic. The 350 itself sells a lot and everyone wants to have a one. Well probably nobody really talks about the issues with these Bullet bikes, but we are doing here.

Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t be buying the Royal Enfield Bullet.

LACK OF FEATURES
It’s 2017, yet the Royal Enfield Classics don’t have tubeless tyres, tachometer, trip meter or a fuel gauge. The whole process of reserve and main tank gets irritating and you can end up making a fool of yourself at the petrol pump.

VIBRATIONS
Royal Enfield motorcycles vibrates a lot. In fact post 80 km/hr, you can’t see anything in the rear view mirrors because of the vibrations. The handlebar and the footpegs vibrates so much. After a long day’s ride, you would end up vibrating at night while sleeping.

POOR BRAKES
The brakes on Royal Enfield bikes are very poor as they tend to lock up easily. Forget ABS (anti braking system), there is no rear disc on the Bullet and Classic and one has to get the rear brake fixed after every 100 odd kilometers.

BAD HANDLING
Royal Enfield bikes have poor handling due to the heavy weight and inferior components. Even basic cornering on the right side makes the exhaust scrape due to poor clearance.

LACK OF POWER
Royal Enfield motorcycles lack power and as you hit the on, the engine feels like it could break into parts. There are various different noises from the engine and the clutch is very heavy too.

HIGH WEIGHT
As Royal Enfield bikes are made of metal, they are just too heavy and there is no concept of power to weight in the bike. This makes it difficult to ride in city traffic and mileage is also low. Putting the bike on the main stand takes effort.

LACK OF QUALITY
Quality on Royal Enfield bikes isn’t great, as metal tends to rust fast and fit finish is inconsistent. The motorcycle itself isn’t reliable and you end up being your own mechanic as anything can happen anywhere, anytime.

NOT VALUE FOR MONEY
Royal Enfield bikes aren’t cheap by any means of imagination. For the price of a Classic 350, you can get a Bajaj Dominar 400 with boasts of latest engine, chassis and safety technologies while offering better acceleration, handeling, braking and reliability.

SOUND
Royal Enfield bikes are unnecessarily loud and while owners might enjoy the thump, people around tend to get very irritated.
