NEA Authorisation the installation of charging station for electric vehicles

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started promoting electric vehicles and setting up a charging station.

Due to the ongoing electricity production from the Upper Tamakoshi hydropower project, our country also has to go through the process of use of electric vehicles as it is going to start its process.

NEA will establish a central office of charging station at Ratnarpark for promoting electrical vehicles. Executive Director Kulman Ghising informed that the process of construction of charging station for electric vehicles like gasoline pump was started.

NEA said that after completing the construction of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, the power of consuming electricity during night will be initiated.

Currently, construction of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project has been completed by about 9 percent. The first unit of the project has been prepared to be operated in the next year. The Authority has been discussing whether the use of electricity will be used in the capital, including small vehicles.

The Electricity authority had end the power cut from last year and has been giving emphasis to use of electrical vehicles. Electricity Authority will establish a charging station for electronic vehicles in various places of Kathmandu in first round. After stations in kathmandu, more stations will be constructed in Pokhara, Chitwan, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj.

 

Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality has already started plans to conduct a Chinese electric bus in Kathmandu but not any process has started. The metropolis had been allocated Rs. 50 million for the electric bus.
